Karuun® is the start of modern material thinking, be part of it now!
The natural structure of the rattan palm can be transformed using energy-efficient technology into a material that is both versatile and innovative. Commonly, rattan refers to the woody shoot of the rattan palm. In cross-section, this palm resembles a bundle of tubes, in fact they are capillary vessels that can transport water up to 150 metres. Adding properties via these capillaries and processing the material into semi-finished goods such as blocks or veneers makes a versatile range of applications possible, opening the doors for rattan to a multitude of innovative new applications in a wide variety of fields. For instance, the capillaries can be used for electrical impulses and wires by injecting them with conductive ink. Application fields here include sensors, the control and operation on natural surfaces, intelligent components, as well as marking and displays. From an almost forgotten raw material with comparatively few applications comes karuun® – a natural, high-tech material that is considered a pioneer among alternatives to plastic.
