Disinfection through light: the many benefits of INTEGRALIS®
• high-quality designer lamps with disinfecting effect
• violet light to combat bacteria, fungi and mould
• completely harmless to people
• perfect balance of light quality, colour reproduction and disinfection
• four lighting solutions and an optional UVC method of killing viruses
• DALI-compatible and controllable via the Artemide App
Light can act as a disinfectant. Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the use of UVC light to kill viruses has been booming. The method is effective, but it also poses risks to human health: ultraviolet light is extremely high-energy, and large doses or prolonged exposure can harm the skin and eyes. This short-wave light can also damage surfaces in the long term. As a result, disinfection by means of UVC light can only be used where people are not present and under the strictest safety standards.
With INTEGRALIS®, Artemide has developed a new light technology that effectively combats bacteria, fungi and mould with the help of violet light components, while being absolutely harmless to people, animals and plants. The violet light components in the wavelength range of 405 nm restrict the growth and spread of pathogenic microorganisms that are completely invisible to the human eye. INTEGRALIS® achieves a perfect and unique balance between excellent light quality, optimal colour reproduction and effective disinfection. This feature is unique and a patent is pending for its use. INTEGRALIS® combines four independent solutions, which can be used on their own or in combination. The dosage and type of disinfection can therefore be adjusted to suit any individual situation. For example, INTEGRALIS® can operate as efficient lighting during normal office hours, preventing the growth of bacteria. During the night, in contrast, the violet component can be increased by up to 100 percent, which effectively kills bacteria and germs. The system can be supplemented by an optional UVC technology, which also reliably kills viruses and offers additional protection.
INTEGRALIS® is DALI-compatible and can be integrated into various lamps and lighting systems from the Artemide range. Lamps such as Discovery Space, A.24 and Sharp thus not only boast excellent design, but also contribute, with the help of INTEGRALIS®, to a healthy and beneficial environment. The efficiency and duration of the disinfection measures can be controlled with ease via the Artemide App – in real time or using pre-programmed lighting scenarios.
INTEGRALIS® is a highly flexible and revolutionary light technology, which adapts to our individual needs while also protecting our greatest asset: our health.
