One material - all possibilitiesThe innovative and sustainable structural material BREATHAIR® combines ideal material properties for upholstery fabrics. With its wide range of densities and material thicknesses in combination with diverse filament geometries, BREATHAIR® serves a broad spectrum of applications. From indoor and outdoor furniture as well as seat cushions with and without UV protection, to all types of mattresses, to sports, BREATHAIR® meets the specific requirements in each case. Its special polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer makes it particularly resistant. Thanks to its higher melting point compared to other 3D structural materials, BREATHAIR® is also ideally equipped to meet the high demands of seats in the automotive and aerospace industries, as well as for buses and trains. Excellent hygiene properties The loop structure of continuous fibers makes BREATHAIR® a material that meets even the high SEK standards of the Japan Textile Evaluation Technology Council (JTETC) regarding antimicrobial and deodorizing functions:- Mold prevention thanks to high breathability.- Reduced bacterial growth- Low mite infestation- Easy cleaning and fast drying due to high water repellency- Disinfectable with ozone- Easy to handle and maintain thanks to low weight
- Ideal material properties
Given its high elasticity and material resistance, as well as its lighter weight compared to PU foam while maintaining the same hardness, BREATHAIR® is suitable for a wide range of applications with numerous processing options. From narrow, flexible protective layers to thick and molded upholstery, it is the innovative structural material.
Other properties:
- High resilience for excellent cushioning
- Minimal loss of springiness thanks to good volume retention
- Pressure sore prevention due to good body weight distribution / pressure distribution
- Environmentally friendly, as BREATHAIR® is 100% recyclable
- Circularity - recycling actively lived
From the beginning, Indorama Mobility Group has been committed to contributing to the sustainability goals of Indorama Ventures and its customers, and has developed a strategy that prioritizes the development of sustainable products and processes. BREATHAIR® is a significant part of this.
With very little energy input, BREATHAIR® can be mechanically recycled, and used to make new upholstered core mats again. With a carbon footprint of BREATHAIR® that is up to 70% lower than that of standard PU foam, this is an enormous contribution to sustainability.
