Dipl.-Ing. Architektin Prof. Christiane Sauer

Christiane Sauer is an architect and since 2013 Professor for Material and Design at weißensee school of art and design berlin. Her focus lies on developing and designing functional material systems for architecture, mainly based on textile structures, smart and active materials. She is heading the research facility DXM - Design Experiment Material and conducts research within the interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence "Matters of Activity. Image Space Material" located at Humboldt University Berlin. She has also lectured internationally on new material developments, e.g. SCI-Arc, Los Angeles or Cornell University, NY. As a practicing architect she worked for international firms such as OMA Rotterdam and founded formade - studio for architecture and materials in Berlin. She has been collaborating as an author and moderator in the field of new materials with md magazine, DETAIL research, Forschungsinitiative Zukunft Bau amongst others and is a member of the BDA and the Berlin Chamber of Architects
