Trend Forum Function & Components: Rethink Furniture – Less, but Better
“Rethink Furniture – Less, but Better” was the title of an interzum 2025 special event jointly conceived with the trade fair’s partner byform Produktdesign.

In an age in which volume-driven and fully automated production processes dominate the market, interzum was consciously provided a counterpoint with the Trend Forum Function & Components.
Embracing the principle “less, but better”, it followed the call from designer Dieter Rams and promoted responsible planning, development and production. Rethinking was an essential part of this: Established product processes must change.
Five themed areas showcasing a smart “less”
Divided into various areas and accompanied by real-world applications, the special event presented the topics that are decisive to creating a functioning circular economy. It covered every aspect, from digital applications harnessing developments in AI to sharing concepts all the way through to analyses of new technologies. The entire special event focused on potential changes in the sphere of products.
It was organised into five themed areas, each illustrated with innovative exhibits:
- Rethink Furniture in Digital Systems
- Rethink Furniture with Circular Design
- Rethink Furniture in Use and Reuse
- Rethink Furniture with New Technology
- Rethink Furniture with Tradition & Technology
