Tessa Petrusa

Tessa Petrusa graduated in June 2018 from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (The Netherlands), from the master Industrial Design. She obtained her first master’s degree (2006) at the University of Amsterdam in Cultural Anthropology. Tessa works as a lecturer in design and trend research at the Fontys University of Applied Sciences and the Willem de Kooning Art Academy. She is currently doing a project as a member of the lectorate 'Designing the Future' with the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) and the future research institute BrabantKennis with the purpose of making civil servants more skilled in dealing with uncertainties in their work.

Tessa’s studio concentrates on material innovation and concept development. For her more commercial projects she develops tactile surfaces, currently focusing on 4D prints. Her more autonomous projects deal with the body as a "mining resource". She works, with international partners, for the future market; products that will not appear on the commercial market in the next 10 years. Tessa has just started the program of Driving Dutch Design (an initiative of the Dutch Design Foundation, BNO and ABN AMRO) as one of 23 'Drivers', an initiative to stimulate entrepreneurship in the creative sector. She will present new work at the Dutch Design Week 2021.
