Exhibitors at interzum 2017 can now enter their innovations for the interzum award: intelligent material & design 2017. The design competition is organised by Koelnmesse in collaboration with Red Dot for what is now the ninth time. Companies from the furniture supplier industry are invited to see how their products measure up against their international competitors. The deadline for entries is 3 March 2017.

Representatives from the global furniture supplier industry will once again gather in Cologne for interzum from 16 to 19 May 2017. At the leading international trade fair, the exhibitors set new standards and offer visitors from industry, the trades and retailers an overview of the innovations in the sector. The interzum award: intelligent material & design gives them a chance to underscore the quality of their products. Even before the trade fair opens, interzum exhibitors have an exclusive opportunity to take part in this competition free of charge. The best designs will be chosen by an international jury of experts and presented in a special exhibition at the trade fair. In addition, an online exhibition will showcase the winning products well after interzum 2017 closes.

Companies participating in the competition can enter a single or several products. As the supplier industry for the furniture and interior construction sector is so diverse, for the first time there will be four categories for entries for the interzum award: the jury is looking for the best designs in the categories “Materials and Surfaces”, “Fittings, Glass and Lighting”, “Upholstered Furniture Manufacture and Bedding”, and the new category “Mobile Spaces”.

The international expert jury is formed of the Italian architect and designer Dr. Luisa Bocchietto, Martin Darbyshire, founder and CEO of the London design consultancy tangerine, and the Dutch designer Dick Spierenburg. They are joined on the panel by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Martin Stosch, Lecturer on the Wood Engineering programme at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, and Professor Peter Zec, Initiator and CEO of the Red Dot Awards.

The awards will be presented to the winners at the interzum Party on 15 May 2017. The awards ceremony will also mark the opening of interzum 2017. For further information and to enter, please visit:
