About Ineke Hans

Ineke Hans is a critical designer of furniture, products, exhibitions and spaces with content. She explores new design strategies, and worked for leading international clients and communities next to manufacturers, such as Magis, Iittala, Cappellini, Offecct, on products and new typologies to fit our future social context. After
graduating with a Master in Furniture Design from the Royal College of Art in London she worked 3 years as a freelancer for Habitat UK before she set up her studio in Arnhem (NL) in 1998. She has worked with recycled materials and efficient material use over 25 years and
launched her first furniture from recycled plastics in 1997. In 2015 Ineke moved back to London to start the London Salons – exploring: ‘The future of furniture design & the changing position of the designer’ – which she concluded with talks and exhibitions in a.o. the V&A and the pamphlet ‘Explore & Act’. Since 2017 Ineke is
professor Design & Social Context at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with a.o. a focus on design & climate change. In 2021 'REX, the first Dutch deposit chair' was launched with Circuform. REX was obtained by 5 museum among which Vitra Design Museum and
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. REX was also highly rewarded: – winner Dutch Design Awards 2022 – winner Bundespreis Ecodesign 2022 – winner GIO award 2022 – shortlisted (last five) Dezeen Awards 2022 – nominee Green Product Award 2023
