About Prof. Franco Bulian
Prof. Franco Bulian was born in Udine (Italy) the 29th May 1960. He graduated in chemistry at the University of Padova in 1985 and presently he is the Managing Director of CATAS, the biggest European institute in the wood and furniture sector. Since 2007 he is a professor at the University of Trieste. His course “Materials and Technologies of the Wood and Furniture Industry” is part of the Double Degree (Laurea Magistrale and Master of Science) Production Engineering and Management of the University of Trieste and of the University of Applied Sciences Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (Germany). Franco Bulian is the coordinator of the Italian standardisation committee on wood and furniture surfaces (UNI Finiture) being also member of CEN/TC139/WG2
(exterior wood coatings) and CEN/TC112/WG5 (wood-based panels:
dangerous substances). Franco Bulian has acquired a wide knowledge on materials and technologies of the wood and furniture sector having participate to many research projects in this field. In addition to several scientific and informative articles, Franco Bulian has also published some books on coatings, adhesives, furniture materials and wood floors.
