The event
At the forefront of the green revolution, Krill Design is pioneering the transformation of organic by-products into high-performance biomaterials. In my presentation, I will discuss our innovative technology that converts waste—such as citrus peels, coffee grounds, seeds, and shells—into REKRILL®, a patented biopolymer that challenges the dominance of conventional petrochemical plastics.
REKRILL® is fully biobased, biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable, yet it offers mechanical, thermal, and aesthetic properties comparable to traditional plastics, making it a viable alternative for a wide range of applications. Our approach is deeply rooted in the principles of the circular economy. By reclaiming what would otherwise be discarded, we not only reduce environmental waste but also create new economic value. The production process at Krill Design has been optimized to minimize resource consumption and energy usage, ensuring a sustainable lifecycle from raw material to finished product. In this talk, I will share insights on how our integrated R&D efforts, continuous process improvements, and strategic investments have enabled us to lower production costs while maintaining quality and performance.
Furthermore, I will illustrate the diverse market applications of REKRILL®—from innovative design and furniture to packaging, consumer electronics, and beyond—demonstrating how industries can shift toward sustainable solutions without compromising on functionality. Our vision is to lead a global shift towards a more sustainable future by providing companies with a tangible, eco-friendly alternative that reduces reliance on fossil-based plastics and mitigates the adverse effects of environmental degradation. Together, let’s choose nature over plastic and create a sustainable legacy for future generations.
