Innovations workshop wood materials
The 3. innovations workshop wood materials took place on 24. May 2011 in the run-up to the interzum. Speakers provided information about innovative wood materials for new applications in the furniture-, vehicle- and trade fair industry as well as refinishing of the interior. Our speakers also encouraged discussions.
interzum award
For the 6th time Koelnmesse in cooperation with red dot offered the interzum award: intelligent material & design. The design and innovation contest has been developed especially for the supplier industry and is already an established sector prize among interzum exhibitors.
Piazzas
Elegantly designed like the piazzas in small Italian towns, the interzum Piazzas serve as the central meeting place during the fair. The Piazzas provided exciting speeches with top-class speakers, interesting panel discussions, special shows with innovative products as well as exceptional catering services.
Interior Designer Day 2011
The Interior Designer Day of the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia of the interzum was held on May 25th, 2011 in hall 4.2, "innovation of interior". The central topic of the event was "facets of the future" - regarding the topics "bionics" and "new technologies".
VDID Youth Competition
The VDID Youth Competition offered his students the possibility to get attention for their work and to get an easy start in their careers.
The Lightness of design
Innovative lightweight construction in furniture is an industry trend. Sponsored by the state ministry for economics, space on Northboulevard is dedicated to a collaboration between the renowned industrial designer Klaus W. Göcke and the companies Nobilia, Wöstmann, Wiemann and Hettich. The concept is receiving support from the igeL, the lightweight construction association [Interessengemeinschaft Leichtbau e.V.].

International Design Award
Promoting talent and capturing tomorrow’s trends and visions were the declared goals of the International Design Award, a competition organized every two years by Hettich and REHAU. The competition was open to design students around the world, who were invited to create innovative and groundbreaking design solutions for future furniture and furniture elements.
